WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT THE U.S. CONSTITUTION?
SINCE 2016, 34 STATES HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO CHANGE IT BY INVOKING ARTICLE V
ARTICLE V STATES:
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, … or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid…, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof….
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
The states don’t have to rely on Congress if they want to see changes to our constitution
The required 2/3rds of the states (34) have invoked this article.
Congress MUST set a date for a new constitutional convention
WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY PLATFORMS?
28 states have the same agenda:
Term Limits,
Budget Reform.
Limits on federal oversight into state governance
WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?
This agenda is being pushed forward without the voices or general knowledge of the American people.
WHAT IS ARTICLE V?
This table is a compilation of data from the U.S. House Office of the Clerk and individual state legislative websitesWe believe all citizens should have a say in what changes are made to our constitution.
Representative democracy only works when the people truly feel represented.
Do your elected officials fully reflect your values, whether at the state of federal level?
Do you question why our voices can be trusted for local officials up to Members of Congress, yet we’re forced to rely on the electoral college for the Offices of president and vice president?
